OFFON
Wieden+Kennedy, 2011

'OFF-ON' is an initiative to make people more aware of energy they consume every day and taking pro active steps to reduce the consumption. You turn a light OFF here to turn someone's light elsewhere. The principle is that all money saved in the workspace is given to install solar power panels in countries around the world.

The pilot Wieden+Kennedy consists of a open source energy data platform that monitors energy of the building by collecting real time values using Current Cost. These values are then stored in a platform that feeds a series of physical LED displays and screensavers reactive to the consumption in the building.

The screensavers and displays were designed focusing on behavior change. The energy consumption data drives the mood of a character that represents the building and changes mood as the building is saving more and less energy.
